Based on 16th Century Design This unique watch is based on Momento Mori watches of the 16th and 17th century worn by royals and other political, religious and scientific leaders of the day.
Technologically Unique The watch's 17 jewel movement has been adapted from a Font 6921 mechanism, purchased directly from the Swiss manufacturer, to permit a single hand display and direct setting of the hand.
Authentic Operation From the earliest timepieces (12th c.) until the 1680's clocks and watches were one handed instruments. In order to be consistent with the period we have adapted the mechanism to be key wound, hand set and with a single hand display.
Rich in Vanitas and Momento Mori Symbolism including the skull, bones, a hand, a vulture and an elegant design in the lid depicting a swan swimming under the sun.

Antique Skull Watches are treasured in major watch collections and exhibited in major museums throughout the world including the Taft Museum of Art, The Walters Museum, Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute and the British Museum. Important historical figures are associated with these watches, including Mary Queen of Scots, who purportedly owned this 16th century skull watch.
